The Atlantik Wall In Normandy

Stp51 La Semaphore Map 1512 OT

Situated just to the west of the batterie of Longues sur Mer, this position has one curious bunker which may well have been used to house a 88mm anti aircraft gun. The site was originally a French coastguard station and was used by the German's as a fire control post on Day for the nearby batterie at Longues Sur Mer. On the evening of D-day one of the guns from Longues sur Mer fired on the French cruiser Georges Leyques who finally put the batterie out of action.
