WN76 Le Moulin de Criqueville Map 1412OT

The first position to the west of Pointe du Hoc and about the limit of the Rangers advance on the morning of D-day. To road the road between Pointe du Hoc and Grand Maisey was  one of their main objectives. This was to stop the German Troops in Grand Camp having the opportunity of attacking the Omaha beach head. This the Rangers achieved for the daylight hours needed for the forces on Omaha to establish themselves. The Germans did not list any equipment here, but it is know that the windmill was used for both observation and a machine post.
