The Atlantik Wall In Normandy

Wn354 Auderville Barracks

The crew quarters are across the road from the railway guns, and not built to the same standard. They are made from single concrete blocks and would have had a simple wooden or asbestos sheet roof. There would have been about 300 men and officers stationed here. The turntables for the guns came from an earlier installation at Carteret. On the hill south of the crew quarters is what we think is a small position for a 20mm anti aircraft gun of which there were three. We also found an underground cable bunker.

We also found on several bunkers on the site, three hooks in the walls. These are supposed to be for shells, to warn of threat levels.
